Foundations
We’re a small group of people learning to follow Jesus together. We study the Bible, ask honest questions, and talk about what’s going on in our lives. We pray for each other, care for each other, and try to put what we’re learning into practice.
Most of us are in our 20s, 30s, and 40s, with a mix of couples who are dating or married, some with kids and some without. If our group sounds like a place you'd like to be, we'd love to have you.

We’d love to have you come spend a Sunday morning with us.
What Sunday morning is like
We start at 9:30 with some time to catch up and visit. Sunday mornings with kids can be hectic, so don’t worry if you’re running a little behind. Most of us are there by about 9:45.
We share what’s going on in our lives, including things we’re thankful for and things we’d like prayer for. Someone will volunteer to lead us in prayer, and then we spend most of our time studying the Bible together.
We like our Bible study to be a conversation. We’d love for you to join in, but if you’d rather just listen, that’s fine too. We read together, ask questions, talk about what it means and how it applies to our lives. Honest questions are always welcome, and you don’t need to know all about the Bible to follow along.
The passages we study are included on a handout. You’re welcome to bring a Bible, use one on your phone, or use one of the Bibles we have in the room.
We finish around 10:35, giving everyone time to pick up kids, get another cup of coffee, and head to the 10:45 worship service.
More than Sunday morning
We enjoy spending time together outside of Sunday mornings too. We get together for coffee, meals and socials, and we celebrate things like birthdays, new babies and baptisms. Sometimes the kids come along, and other times it’s just the adults.
We use GroupMe during the week to stay connected, share good news, ask for prayer and keep up with what’s happening in each other’s lives. When someone is going through a difficult time, we try to be there for each other too, whether that’s checking in, bringing a meal, babysitting or meeting for coffee.
We believe following Jesus should make a difference in how we live, including how we serve others. We look for opportunities to serve one another, our church and our community, whether that’s helping with a church event, serving with children or building beds for kids in our community.
A story from Foundations
Joey, Laurin & Lucas
One of our favorite Sundays recently was getting to watch Joey and Laurin be baptized alongside their 11-year-old son, Lucas.
They’re part of our Life Group, and we’ve had the privilege of getting to know them, studying the Bible together, serving together, praying together, and watching their faith grow.

Life Groups like ours have been an important part of our lives throughout our marriage. They’ve been there through fostering and adoption, raising our two girls, and plenty of ups and downs along the way.
We’ve experienced firsthand the difference that studying the Bible and having people around you who genuinely care can make. That’s a big part of why we love leading this group together.

When you arrive
If you’re not sure how to find E203, stop by one of Highland’s Welcome Desks and tell them you’re visiting Foundations. They’ll be glad to point you in the right direction.
You can also stop by the Connect Center for coffee, tea, water or hot cocoa before heading upstairs.
Bringing kids?
Nursery and children’s Sunday School, grouped by age, are available while we meet. The Children’s Welcome Desk can get your kids checked in and show you where to go.
The children’s area is secure during Sunday morning activities.
Parking
Visitor parking is on the west side of the church near 34th & Quaker. If it’s full, there’s additional parking across 34th Street, just south of the church.
What should I wear?
Whatever you normally wear is fine. You’ll see everything from jeans and T-shirts to business casual and suits.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Just come. We’d love to have you.
